Coded by wowexplored for coding this and for all his awesome work on helping us get back into WoW Machinima. <3 1)First, download and install Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition from here: Download Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition. It will take some time, and you will need a few gigs of free space. 2)Next, download the working model viewer from here: Download here. This was posted in another thread, but it was buried and hard to find, this thread is for easy access. EDIT: Link changed as of Jan 6, 2009.

Strange, everytime I load it up, it gives me the windows error, making it close.

Mine just stops responding as soon as I open it and select my WoW folder. EDIT: Also do note that I did install all the C++ stuff and that is all working fine. That fixed the 'side-by-side config' error, so this 'not responding' is something different.

Yeah, kind of depressing. Opened the program multiple times and it only gets me to load the sidebar (Character, Camera and etc etc) then gives me the windows error, making it close. The Visual C++ program installed fine, and I have plenty of space. . .whats the deal? And mine didn't ask where my WoW folder was, it found it automatically (It's on another drive, so not the usual C Drive)

It found mine automatically, but I have 3 WoW's all at different patches so it asked which one.
Also, doing the non-reponsive error again for me. Was working just before. Seems to just occasionally work, but not often. While it was going however, it was awesome! x3

I've been using the WMV since like the 5.8 version and haven't really used it since around August, maybe even earlier I'd say. I just tried downloading the newest one, but every time I open a model, everything closes down. I tried new ways to use it, but in the end, it logs itself out. I deleted all of the files, but my computer canstill access them somehow. Really happy the WOTLK are out and I hope it's not Vista being overly protective, again.

And what about if your computer won't let you install C++ ? >_> I hate microsoft...
Oh, and nice song Dr00d xD
Edit: I went guns blazing into my hard drive and managed to take out my old install manually, and somehow avoided killing my computer >_>
Now it works, and I love it! I especially like being able to use all the NPC armours, keep it as a tickable option perhaps? It just adds so much more functionality, and I forsee some epic machinima on the horizon!

It mostly seems to work for me.
But there are two errors I have encountered so far:
1 - The same as the persona above. It crashes when I try to load a background image.
2 - There are no eyeglows, even though weapon enchantments seem to apear.
(Fortunately I can live without these two, otherwise I'd be -very- angry at that Rickroll...)
ADD: 3 - Unhandeled exception when I tried to untick the miscelaneous box from the belt listing. I'd unticked it before, so I can only guess that it happened because now I had a miscelaneous belt selected.. or not.
3 - First time I tried to open Alexstrasza's dragon model, it crashed. The second time, it opened, but the chain of her necklace doesn't show up.
4 - Particles in general are much too strong.
5 - Facelessone has this strange transparency that makes it's belt-crystal and tiny areas of it's limbs vanish. But unless I'm very much mistaken, chausing's modelviewer had exactly the same thing.
6 - Always crashes on Malygos. The other crahses mainly seem to be random, but this one isn't.

Drood, you're awesome. But I also think you should edit the post to say its a very very early "debug" release of WOTLK model viewer.

Been lurking around these forums since the WotLK; now I want to ask if there are any EU players for whom this update is working? (I've a vague suspicion that might be my problem with it, seeing as there's a "enUS" folder in the download, but don't really know as I'm code-clueless.) I've downloaded Visual C++ 2008 and that works fine. When I go to open the Model Viewer, however, I get an error message stating that some DBC files cannot be loaded (full message in screenshot here). The viewer doesn't crash or anything, but the file list remains empty so I can't actually view any models. I'm running Windows Vista 32-bit, if that helps any!
